You've Got To Try This Lavender Latte Recipe This Spring
Nothing screams "spring" quite like lavender. So, it's no surprise that we're ready to fully submerse ourselves in everything lavender — lavender essential oil, fresh lavender around the house, lavender candles and yes — lavender lattes!
After we made lemon poppyseed pancakes for Easter (topped with lavender, of course) we haven't been able to shake our love for this herb, so we found a way to incorporate it with one of our other loves: coffee.
So, if you're into the idea of sipping on nothing but lavender lattes this spring, then you've got to give this recipe a try, too.
Because seriously — it's just not the spring season without one of these beverages in your hand.
Let's get that coffee brewing, shall we?
Here's what you'll need:
1. Cold Brew Coffee
We recently tried the Ethiopia Reserve Blend from Starbucks, and it has hints of black tea, lemon and lavender — so it's just as light and subtle as you need the coffee for this recipe to be. It's sweet, but not overpowering, and we highly recommend using this as the base for your latte.
If you're into a more robust flavor, then definitely give Wandering Bear Coffee a try. They've got a subscription service to black cold brew coffee that you're sure to love. What's better than cold brew shipped right to your door, you know?
2. Lavender Simple Syrup
Once you've chosen which coffee you're going to use, you'll need to make the lavender flavored simple syrup. To do this you'll need to bring sugar, water and lavender to boil on the stovetop (or in the microwave — we won't tell!). You'll only need to make as much as you'll need to sweeten one latte — we use about 1/8 cup water, 3 tablespoons of sugar and 2 tsp. lavender to get a sweet, floral flavor. We serve ours in this adorable little recycled yogurt jar.
3. Creamer
Because we take lots and lots of cream with our coffee, we also added cream to this recipe. You can use half and half or go for a lighter flavor to match the lavender and opt for a vanilla flavored coconut milk creamer, as we did. The coconut milk and the lavender combo is pretty hard to beat.
And, the final result is pure bliss!
It's as simple as that! Now, all that's left to do is sip and enjoy!
