Plane Ride Reads: The Labels & Lacquer Girls Travel To Hong Kong Edition
When you’re about to embark on a 14 hour flight, you’ve got to be prepared. From music to books, you’re going to want to keep yourself entertained in between snoozing and eating those in-flight meals.
The Labels and Lacquer girls are planning on doing just that. We’re jet-setting off to Hong Kong, and we’re going to have plenty to keep our interest until we land in the vast city, where we’ll surely never feel bored, from the moment we land to the moment we take-off again.
We’re packing everything from fashion magazines to books about translating Chinese poetry. So, needless to say, we’ve got all of our bases covered.
Check out what our plane ride reads will be, and get inspired to read these books or plan what you’ll be flipping through on your next vacation. Because daydreaming about reading on a beach somewhere is almost as good as actually doing it, right?
1. Fashion Magazines
You better believe that the L & L ladies have stacks on stacks on stacks of fashion magazines for this plane ride. Becaue we can't think of a better way to spend our time, you know?
2. Travels With Myself and Another

This memoir is all about one woman's travels with her loved one. And of course, they make a stop in China, and many of her expereinces are all too relateable, especially if you've been to Asia before.
3. A Supposedly Fun Thing I’ll Never Do Again

A book of essays about "fun things" that didn't turn out to be so fun written by the highly cynical David Foster Wallace is just the kind of thing to remind you to always try and roll with the punches while traveling. Because not every experience is going to be the best experience of your life.
4. 19 Ways Of Looking At Wang Wei

A book all about how one poem can be translated in many different ways is an important reminder of how so much can get lost in translation.
5. The Oxford Book Of French Short Stories

So, this has nothing to do with Hong Kong, but the L & L girls are always dreaming about Paris, so this seems fitting.
And there you have it, the making's of a perfectly entertaining flight.
