The Labels & Lacquer Approved Hong Kong Survival Guide
We had such a wonderful time in Hong Kong. However, there were certain items we needed on us at all times, to ensure we kept having a good time. We walked so much in HK, and we needed to make sure we stay hydrated at all times. Traveling can take a lot out of you. So our #1 tip would to make sure you have one to two water bottles on you. ALWAYS.
There is so much to see and do in the city, so we highly recommend you make this your next travel destination. Shopping, yummy food, and new experiences-- Hong Kong has it all. We wanted to come up with a sort of survival guide for someone traveling there just to make it a little easier on you. It's just a list of things we kept in our bag while we were there. We think it will come in handy for you, too.
Here's our very own version of Hong Kong survival guide!
1. Water Bottle
Like I said earlier, we did a lot of walking in Hong Kong. We walked several miles exploring the city. Staying hydrated is key. Even when you are not thirsty, drink water. It really helps you feel energized for the whole day, and it keeps you from having to constantly stop in somewhere to get a drink so that you can just get on with exploring!
2. Hair Ties
Let's face it, several days I wanted to wear my hair down. And with the rain and the humidity, it just wouldn't work. We would end up throwing our hair up into a bun or a pony tail. Just make sure you have a Plan B for your hair, go ahead and keep hair ties on you, too.
3. Umbrella
The very first day we were in Hong Kong, it was raining. We had to run from our hotel to the closest 7/11 to get two umbrellas for us. From there on out, we always had those umbrellas on our person. The weather can be unpredictable, and it is definitely better to be safe than sorry!
4. Granola Bars

With all the walking we did in Hong Kong we would get hungrier faster. Sometimes we would look for directions to go to restaurants and the still could't find the place we were searching for. In those moments when we couldn't find the next place we wanted to eat, we made sure to have healthy snacks to help hold our appetites over.
5. Your Phone
You are definitely going to want your phone to be easily accessible to take photos of everything you see. And you are going to want to be selfie ready (confession: we even brought a selfie stick with us!). So many people here just pull out there phone and take a selfie, anywhere, even in the middle of the streets. Get ready to be a total tourist, and say cheese! No shame in the selfie game!
These were five items we always had on us and each of them made our trip so much more enjoyable! They're sure to make your trip to HK even better, too! Just trust us. You live and you learn, so let our experience make yours the best it possibly can be in this busy city.
