Protein Snacks For When You Need A Pick-Me-Up
Summertime is always the time of the year when we feel most motivated to work out — namely because the weather is finally optimal working out weather (at least that's what we told ourselves to force ourselves to lace those shoes up and get outside!). We're excited to keep up the intensity in the fall season, too. To help us do that, we've been loving protein-filled snacks for a post workout pick-me-up that isn't just, you know, pizza and tequila — which is our usual go-to. But, after a sweat sesh we at least like to save that meal for dinner because we're not about to deprive ourselves!
But, these protein snacks are great post-workout or pretty much whenever you need a pick-me-up. So, say around 10 a.m. pretty much every day!
Next time you're craving something that will fuel your body:
1. Matcha Protein Waffles
We used Tone It Up's Matcha Protein Powder to replace matcha tea in this recipe for matcha blueberry waffles for a protein-filled brunch that was absolutely delicious — and we highly recommend that you try it out, too!
2. Cookie Dough Protein Bites

We'll take any excuse we can get to eat cookie dough, so the fact that these are made with oat flour and packed with protein is all the reason we need to chow down. How 'bout you?
3. Nut Butter Granola Bars
In an attempt to replicate possibly the best granola bars we've ever had, we've perfected our own version of granola bars. They're not exactly what we were initially going for, but some things can't be replicated. And instead we found a homemade way to start our day! Read all about how to make this protein-filled bar that we've been loving.
4. Vegan Protein Blondies

Holla at a girl if you remember how good the blondies at Applebee's used to be when you ate there with your family as a kid. Well, consider this the all-grown-up, slightly healthier version of that. Y-U-M.
5. Key Lime Protein Bars

This is the next best thing when you're craving a slice of key lime pie! Plus, these no-bake bars are easy to throw together and store in the freezer. Perfect for the summer months!
6. Veggie Chips

Don't let those fresh veggies go to waste! Sure, you can throw a lot of veggies in your smoothies, but to switch things up — go with this savory snack! Veggies are packed with protein and the hardest part of making these will be slicing the veggies extra thin. Once you've done that, consider it an arm workout and throw those bad boys in the oven!
7. Banana Pancakes
These aren't what you're thinking. They're literally made with two eggs and a banana, so they're the perfect way to sneak some protein into your breakfast. Plus, look at how cute they are!
In case you do want a smoothie to pair with these foods, you should definitely try this smoothie hack to make your life a little easier when you do!
Enjoy munching on these protein-filled snacks!
